Tobacco Museum in Maia

It a scientific and cultural structure belonging to Maia’s Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Divino Espírito Santo and engages in research, documentation, conservation, interpretation and promotion of the tobacco agricultural industry within a social and local development perspective.

Besides contributing to the preservation of the historical and social heritage of tobacco in Maia, the MTM essentially aims to integrate these resources within a global Project which contributes towards the social and economic development of the Western Area of the County of Ribeira Grande.

Azores for All

The geographical situation of the Azores, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, implies «insularity» and «travel». This defines the character of Azoreans and their readiness to travel. Like any other region, the Azores have their own historical, artistic, environmental and cultural identities which characterise the archipelago as a territory full of emotions and traditions; a source of inspiration for artistic expression, especially in literature and the fine arts. A territory made of «Tales, Legends and Magic», of «Ancient Know-How, Flavours and Traditions», to be discovered by those who visit us. The partnership established between Cresaçor, Ponta Delgada’s Carlos Machado Museum and the Regional Directorate for Culture in the Cultural Tourism Agency project envisages the promotion of Azorean culture and identity.

The Agency aims, also, to carry out actions that may identify and promote tourist attractions and cultural manifestations (architectural heritage, local gastronomy and art, local tales and legends, feasts and events, among others) that, due to their nature, originality, peculiarities or uniqueness, can be included in the offer of cultural tourism products. Additionally, the Agency aims to promote the benefits of the tourism/culture link as activities that promote the well-being of the host communities.

Aurora Social

Aurora Social has the mission of promoting the occupation, rehabilitation and personal improvement, at a social and professional level, of youngsters and adults who have light or moderate mental deficiency. Founded in April of 1994 by a group of parents concerned with the social and professional integration of their children, it has since grown and developed.

It is today a market reference institution acting, on the one hand, within the scope of solidarity economy supporting its own sustainability and guaranteeing the jobs created for people with special needs and, on the other, within the scope of managing a Centre for Occupational Activities with a view to promoting the autonomy of the individual and his/her active participation in the community. Our greatest richness – open arms, innocent hearts, sincere smiles, grateful looks – Love learned, Love received, Love given!

Arrisca Cerâmica

It is a training and production workshop created by ARRISCA - Associação Regional de Reabilitação e Integração Sócio-Cultural dos Açores (Regional Association for Social and Cultural Rehabilitation of the Azores) in 2007 with the objective of promoting occupational and working habits within its target-group, contributing to integration in the community.

It carries out work in the areas of regional handicrafts and china and tile painting envisaging the promotion and protection of cultural traditions that contribute to define our identity.

Social and Cultural Centre of Atalhada

We are a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS) created on the 17th of September of 1997 to promote social and cultural activities with the local population.
Our Handicraft Area «Lagoa Vale a Pena» (Lagoa is Worth It), was created in December of the same year within the scope of the «Lagoa Vale a Pena» Fight Against Poverty Project.

Its main aim is to train women and youngsters who desire to learn different manual crafts, thus contributing to the further qualification of human resources and the increase of family income.

Arrisca Carpenters Workshop

It’s much more than a carpenters workshop. Within the framework of ARRISCA - Associação Regional de Reabilitação e Integração Sócio-Cultural dos Açores (Regional Association for Social and Cultural Rehabilitation of the Azores), it was created in January 2007 with the objective of promoting occupational and working habits within its target-group, contributing to integration in the community.

Espaços Lúdicos carries out all types of woodwork from cabinet making to restoration. A widely skilled team aims to meet the customers’ expectations with innovative products and ideas.

Centro Socail e Cultural da Atalhada Bakery

The Social and Cultural Centre of Atalhada is a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS) created on the 17th of September of 1997 to promote social and cultural activities with the local population.
Its Centro Social e Cultural da Atalhada Bakery was created on the 3rd of May of 1999 within the scope of the «Lagoa Vale a Pena» Fight Against Poverty Project.

Its main goals are to set up, in the Água de Pau parish, a selling spot for traditional bakery goods and the training of human resources with a view to their later social and professional integration.

Sra. Da Paz Handicrafts and Social Solidarity Cooperative

The Sra. Da Paz Handicrafts and Social Solidarity Cooperative was created in October of 1997, due to the urgent need to guarantee the occupation, integration and an added complementary family income, to the former pupils of «Filhas da Maria Imaculada» who had, unexpectedly, ended their school in the Convent.

The cooperative aimed to protect and continue the «art» and «know-how» passed on by the Sisters for many decades, as well as by the craftsmen of the County of Vila Franca, in very different areas, namely embroidery, repair and construction of the local «viola da terra» string instrument, fish scale decorations, pottery, confectionery and weaving.

Work And Protection Home for the Female Youth of Nordeste

Created on the 1st of January of 1937 by Dona Maria do Carmo Monte to take in poor girls, educate them along Christian morals and prepare them for life, They were taught to embroider, lace and weave filling magnificent trunks.
Over the years it has changed location but never stopped promoting handicrafts and protecting infancy and youth.

It has been in the current grandiose facilities at the entrance of this magnificent town that charm the eyes of visitors since the 28th of November of 1954. It is the living inheritance of the work and unbreakable will to protect the weakest and the culture of Nordeste.

Sol Nascente Association

We are a Private Social Solidarity Institution created in 1998 in Salga, Nordeste. The association was born from the volunteer spirit of women and men with a will to overcome some of the parish’s shortcomings. The objectives are to promote social solidarity and equal opportunities, to respect and value the environment, cultural diversity and to contribute to local development. We produce a large range of diverse Bakery and Culinary products based on traditional home recipes using traditional methods.

With this in mind, a solidarity economy micro-company was created without the objective of making profit, but rather, with the aim of creating jobs and training for individuals in poverty or social exclusion. We also have fully equipped facilities for youth and children (between the ages of 5 and 12) Spare Time Activities, on a daily basis, and after working hours ITC facilities for youngsters and adults. Finally, we have special areas for training in handicrafts and for REATIVAR training programmes.

North Farm

The Quinta do Norte Project began with the invitation from the Secretaria Regional da Solidariedade Social (the Azores Government social solidarity body) made to a group of institutions to renovate and rehabilitate the former Casa do Gaiato. Cooperation is the project’s basic concept and the partners are: Cresaçor, Associação Novo Dia, ARRISCA, São Miguel’s Casa do Gaiato, Associação Norte Crescente and Tetrapi. Aside from the infrastructures, the Quinta has almost 1400m2 of land where different animals are bred and raised and fruit and vegetables are grown. The renovated Pomar (orchard) is already clearly visible with the (re)birth of different fruit trees and new vegetables are being introduced. Aiming to obtain recognition as a “pedagogical farm”, different animals may be visited,

such as cows, goats, deer, pigs, chicken or rabbits, among others. With the main objective of fighting poverty and social exclusion, the compound is undertaking transformation and acquiring new functions. The goal of achieving the social and professional insertion and reinsertion of a public with low employability has given birth to the development of different active employment programmes in the areas of local and rural development, social and agricultural entrepreneurship, training for new jobs, biological agriculture and social ans solidarity tourism. In short, the idea is to create an occupational, pedagogical, ludic and communitarian space guided by the principles of environmental sustainability.

Azores for All - Eco-Atlântida

It is a space where the whole community can find a tourist programme made to measure according to their own needs and conditions. The shop promotes and sells a type of tourism that is available to everyone and related to culture and tradition, to nature and environment protection. Besides a varied offer of leisure activities – canoeing, bicycling, trekking and jeep rides, ttraditional Portuguese games and Azorean country golf – the visitor can also find local produce as well as products with a Solidarity Economy origin from the Azorean Network of Solidarity Economy Companies. Cresaçor and its associate Associação da Juventude da Candelária have, since 2005, jointly promoted the Eco-Atlântida Shop in Sete Cidades with the aim of developing

these different forms of tourism – Social and Inclusive Tourism, Solidarity Tourism, Tourism for All – while, simultaneously, contributing to the local development of the parish. As a Tourist Development Company (license 08/2005), Cresaçor aims to aid tourist development in the Region and to contribute to spare time activities meeting the needs and expectations of the «traditional» national and foreign tourists as well as those of other sectors which, due to their specific disfavoured conditions, find themselves habitually excluded from these occupational and leisure activities. The motto is, tourism is for everyone.
